Our First Budget Workshop

We held our first Budget Workshop this past Saturday. We didn’t really know what to expect… and we had no idea how much fun we would have with it!

Yes, we started at 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning… But don’t worry, coffee was provided! After making sure all coffee cups were filled, Luke opened up in prayer. When going over budgets and finances, it is crucial to ask God for guidance!

Following prayer, everyone was given the option of two different Family Finance Packets. We thought it would be nice for people to choose a packet that fit them the best, that way they look forward to doing their budgets! After decisions were made, we began working through the packet.

We went over what it takes to become financially independent, what all of lives’ financial necessities are, and then we dove into budgeting. After explaining how we do our budget, and how the pages are setup, each person worked through their own budget. At this point, it was crucial that everyone brought their “homework” assignment. It really aided in helping them create a budget that fit their specific needs. Luke and I were nearby during all of this to help with any questions that came up.

Once everyone completed their budgets, Luke was up! He touched upon short-term savings accounts, long-term savings accounts, the differences between life insurances, how compound interest works, etc. At first it may sound a bit overwhelming, but the way he broke it down, and the material he used made it extremely simple! Believe me when I say that I am not a numbers person, and even I understood it!

We loved being able to share this information with people, and are so thankful for those that were there eager to learn. We loved that we were able to do the workshop together, as husband and wife, and really share our passion for helping others get financially stable. And we loved the variety of people that attended! From grandmothers, to single guys, it proved that it does not matter where you are financially in life, or how old you are, it is never too early or too late to start setting and accomplishing your financial goals!

Below is one of the comments we received back regarding the workshop…

“In attending the finance Family Budget Workshop, I was able to see putting a budget together was easier than I’ve ever made it out to be. Aubrey was very thorough, and Luke showed us the importance of protecting your income, and saving for retirement. I highly recommend attending one of these if you don’t already have a budget in place, you don’t have your income protected, or you don’t have your future planned for retirement. It was amazing.”
